THE MADDOGS PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of the Maddogs Organization is player development where each player is introduced to the game of football. There is a focus on skill development and getting knowledge of the game as well as becoming part of a team. Football is a team sport where each position is very valuable. Every player has a job to fulfill in order for the team to be successful. It is important to work together as a team.

We strive to develop good players but more importantly good individuals that demonstrate respectful behavior on and off the field. Each player, parent and coach should demonstrate respectful behavior to all fellow teammates and opponents. If any player demonstrates negative behavior that does not reflect our Maddog philosophy, their commitment to our program will be taken up by the executive.

ABOUT THE MADDOGS

Maddogs Football is a program that promotes youth football in the areas north of Saskatoon.

This is our 19th year as an organization, and we are looking forward to the 2024 spring season! As part of Saskatoon Minor Football, we have teams in the fall tackle program for Grades 6 & 7 and Grades 8 & 9.  Under SMF, we also have teams in the spring six-a-side tackle program for Grades 5 through 8.

The Maddogs program relies on volunteers to provide these youth programs. If you would like to join our executive or help out with the program, please contact us via messenger or at martensvillemaddogs@gmail.com

HISTORY OF THE MADDOGS

19 years and still growing!

Original 6.jpg

The Maddogs program was developed after a group of boys and dads got together and joined the Saskatoon Minor Touch Football League in 2005.  The boys were excited to join tackle football with the Kinsmen League in the city, so a group of parents got together to try and start a Northern Zone tackle team out in Martensville.  They formed an executive and started fundraising for equipment.  Their hard work reaped rewards, and the first Peewee Maddogs tackle team was formed in the fall of 2006.

The team had players from Martensville, Osler, Hague, Rosthern, Dalmeny, Warman, and other northern communities.  The enthusiastic executive worked harder and raised enough money to get the bantam team going in 2007.

In 2008, the Martensville Maddogs, Martensville High School, and the City of Martensville worked together and developed a home field on which to play.  Through fundraising and sponsorship, they were able to purchase a new field and a score clock for the 2008 season.  They hosted their first homecoming with Gainer the Gopher and the Saskatchewan Roughriders in September 2008.
